A Soulmate Giggle: I Love you World.
“Love is the passionate search for a truth other than your own; and once you feel it, honestly and completely, love is forever. Every act of love, every moment of the heart reaching out, is a part of the universal good: it’s part of God, or what we call God, and it can never die.” -Shantaram
I’m in Love, knock-down-goofy-grin-do-a-silly-dance-in-love with the human race. The odd, the crazy, the mysterious, the future, the past, the now! We are adaptable, inspired, full of hope, smiles, imagination, and spirit. We are art!
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. … No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.” - Martha Graham
Valentines Day, yesterday, is a time to remember and appreciate love. I spent the first few hours dancing and whirling through the current of energetic bodies-in-motion, surrounded by a storm of light and sound. The random energies and emotions thrown together in one-place/one-time mixed into the most extraordinary life cocktail. The push and pull of sex, bounce of happiness, smooth slide of friendship, rough abrasion of unintentional experiences, open expanding universes; a microcosm of humanity.
“Every human heartbeat… is a universe of possibilities. …Every human will has the power to transform its fate.” –Shantaram
And so we enter the Chinese year of the Tiger, the Tibetan new year, and the beginning of another cycle. A time when yesterday is closed, today is moving along just fine, and tomorrow is bright, fresh, and totally unexpected!
A year or so ago I wrote this:
“I truly believe soulmates exist and we all have them, although I think it is entirely possible that we are not alive at the same time, near the same age, or possibly even the same species, or in the same universe.”
How sad and awesome at the same time! Today it comes back to me as I think about love. After all, a big part of love is sharing a life with another person; breaking down walls and barriers until two souls move in and out of each other in luminescence.
So…
What if my soulmate is a butterfly-winged-chameleon-cat dancing through another universe that existed a millennia ago?
Dang!
A part of me can’t help but laugh at the ridiculously awesome improbability. And as each day continues to bring me more and more loving moments, full cups of joy, and parades of unique experiences, my heart swells again with abundance and magic.
“I know now that when the loving, honest moment comes it should be seized, and spoken, because it may never come again. And unvoiced, unmoving, unlived in the thing we declare from heart to heart, those true and real feelings wither and crumble in the remembering hand that tries too late to reach for them.” -Shantaram
Truly, I love you world. I promise to seize every loving honest moment, to give it a life, a voice, a dance. Happy Valentines Day.

I am simple that’s probably why I really like that knock-down-goofy-grin-do- a-silly…we are art. love sure is fun. Doesn’t it seem impossible to feel love without giving it? there is a certain paradox to that question for me. I would be interested in your answer. Larkin you sure have grown into Quite an amazing person.Your lark in flight is inspiring. We like people for who they are but we love people for who we are and you sure do love. What wonderful things love can make.I might be a little biased. love uncle Stan
Stan, thanks for your great energy and thoughts! I think you’re right on with your words on love. It really is something within each of us, allowing us to be available to feel and receive love because we are actively sharing it, or “feeling” it towards others. However, I think love gets through just a bit even to those who are closed to it, and not actively giving or “feeling” it. It’s one of those amazing things that can open doors thought to be shut forever.
