In a way, each time you write a post it's like giving a mini-commencement...sharing your thoughts and inspiring us to take what we can and run with it. Maybe like our lives depend on it?

"Think about this: we are the only species on this
planet without full employment. Brilliant. We have an economy that tells
us that it is cheaper to destroy earth in real time than to renew,
restore, and sustain it. You can print money to bail out a bank but you
can’t print life to bail out a planet. At present we are stealing the
future, selling it in the present, and calling it gross domestic
product. We can just as easily have an economy that is based on healing
the future instead of stealing it."

I've never heard it put so perfectly.

Commencement speeches have always really fascinated me. It is a difficult thing to keep a pile of young people interested and entertained while trying to give them a message to jump start their lives in a positive direction.

I think part of it is I have a deep down fear/hope that I'll be giving one someday, and I know it will be one of the hardest things I'll ever do; not because there are any serious repercussion to giving a poor one, but because there is such huge potential to do good by giving a great one!
