Henry, please don't link to phoney five finger sites. to answer your question, yes five fingers can be used for swimming. They are actually really good for ocean swimming as they protect from sharp rocks etc.

they are truly amazing shoes...i was thinking of the turquoise sprints for my next pair, but i got my brother a pair of bikilas for his birthday and i've since fallen in love, so...we'll see!

i do mostly outdoor yoga in mine. no need for a mat, i can just drop in to down dog whenever the urge strikes - which is often. :) i also like light hiking in them...i live in indiana and there's nothing too crazy around here in terms of terrain, so they're perfect. i haven't been canoeing or kayaking in them, but i have a feeling they'd be perfect for that. but honestly, i just like wearing them whenever i can...i hate putting on "normal" shoes after i've been wearing them!

my playa experience was amazing...i am still working on compiling all my thoughts (i am not much of a writer unless you count tech writing!), but once i get them in some kind of coherent form and posted, i will definitely share a link here. i loved your EJ burning man post, so i have your burning man tags bookmarked to read...i'll probably post a link on one of those.

be well! :)

namaste! :)

Hi! Awesome, another five finger burningman enthusiast, happy day! yes, the Five Fingers were incredible on the Playa. Besides my dancing platforms I wore them the whole time. It's really good to be aware of the harsh conditions for the shoes though, I'd definitely give them a serious rinse afterwards to keep them healthy (the alkaline dust eats away at stitching). Mine were ready to be retired before went to the playa, so no big deal to hand stitch up the holes beforehand and wear them an extra week. What do you do in yours mostly? How was your playa experience? Did you do any writing about it?
