Fire Revitalization

Flames engulfed my sister’s house as my mom stood in the street and watched.  A propane tank exploded in their motor home, and a fire truck raced up the street.  Ten other housed burned, and in a few minutes a happy neighborhood became an explosion-ridden firestorm soon-to-be-wasteland…
The supports for the temple fell to the right, toppling each other one after another like a row of dominoes.  As each fell a heatwave and mini fireball was released.  We watched, some full of tears, some full of smiles, as dreams, fears, hopes, …

Death, the Doorway to Life

Standing in the middle of the silent highway I watched the moon, slowly appear over the horizon only to vanish again into the cloudy sky.  Big, full, vivacious, and yet so easily hidden behind the mists of the evening.  Birds sang.  Something rustled in the grasses.  Far away emergency lights flashed silently.  Someone had died there an hour before.  Someone else had died over that hill 2 days before.  And another over that hill, and another beyond that mountain, and another in that lake, and another in that car.  So much death …

A New Chapter, and A New White Helmet

A breath slowly taken as I sit and apply the “Asst. Chief” rocker to my new white helmet. The hub has died down. I’m the only one left in the station after almost 5 hours of busy meetings, and I stop for a moment to enjoy the present moment sandwiched between a past of training and a future of leadership.

I smile as I think of all the congratulations, hugs, handshakes I’ve just exchanged with some of the people I admire most in the world. With not a second thought I …

Drowning in Importance

It’s been awhile, and there is a lot bouncing around inside. I’ve got an Ignite experience to process and share, and a intriguing adventure to postulate on, as well as a really amazing effort beginning to bring together an incredible slacklining community. But right now a death is on my mind, but not so much the death, but the life experience surrounding that event.

Many of you know me as a free spirit launching forward in the universe, have spent time with me dancing, running through the forest, exploring the inner …
